Saturday, September 9th: After boarding from our Fort Wayne, IN Meijer Lima Rd pick-up location, we head south for our first overnight stop. Dining on your own.
Sunday, September 10th: After breakfast, we depart for the Cajun Country of New Orleans, also known as the "Big Easy." Upon arrival, we check into our hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner at one of New Orleans' popular restaurants.
Monday, September 11th: After breakfast, we depart for our guided tour of New Orleans and its historic sites. Our guide will detail the local legends of voodoo and pirates as we follow Bayou St. The tour will pass St. Charles Avenue, the University section and Audubon Park. We will also enjoy a visit to the National World War II Museum which focuses on the contribution made by the US to victory by the Allies in WWII and the battle of Normandy in particular. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to explore the area at your own pace. Dinner will be at one of the popular restaurants in New Orleans this evening.
Tuesday, September 12th: Following breakfast, we head to the Houmas House Plantation & Gardens--"The Crown Jewel of Louisiana's River Road. "Sugarcane was farmed here on tens of thousands of acres, and it became the largest producer of sugar in the country. The mansion and grounds have been thoroughly restored and enhanced to reflect the opulent lifestyle and grandeur of the successful sugar barons who once lived there. We then get to explore New Orleans' attractions. Enjoy some shopping and lunch on your own in the French Quarter, New Orleans most popular neighborhood. Later that evening enjoy a cooking demonstration of a traditional Creole meal and enjoy the finished meal at the New Orleans School of Cooking.
Wednesday, September 13th: After breakfast, we depart for the Mardi Gras World for a behind-the-scenes look in the 300,000 square foot working warehouse where floats are made for Mardi Gras Parades. Afterwards, we will enjoy a spectacular luncheon cruise aboard the City of New Orleans Riverboat on the mighty Mississippi River. Savor the beauty and romance of New Orleans and take a journey back in time aboard the authentic sternwheel steamboat. Dinner is on your own that evening.
Thursday, September 14th: Enjoy breakfast on our last day in New Orleans. we make our way north for our stop for the night. Meals on your own.
Friday, September 15th: Enjoy a continental breakfast, then we make our way home with lasting memories of our journey into the deep South, Cajun Country of New Orleans.
